Amit Shah launched Vibrant Village Programme at Natanpur village

way2barak, Feb 20: Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah today formally launched the second phase of the central government’s Vibrant Villages Programme at Natanpur village, located along the India–Bangladesh border in Katigorah of Cachar district, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Prior to this, the Union Home Minister, along with the Chief Minister, visited the Natanpur border outpost on the India–Bangladesh border and took part in a tree plantation programme. The Union Home Minister also visited an exhibition in which 20 self-help groups from Cachar district under the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission participated.
It is noteworthy that the Vibrant Villages Programme–II is being implemented at an estimated cost of ₹6,839 crore, covering 1,954 villages located along international borders in 15 states and 2 Union Territories. In Assam, the programme will be implemented in 140 border villages across 9 districts.
The objective of this programme is to improve the standard of living of people residing in villages along international borders and to ensure adequate livelihood opportunities, to ensure prosperous and secure borders, to control crime in border areas, and to integrate border-area residents into the national mainstream by shaping them as partners of the border security forces.
