State govt to set up 1000 Tribunals set up for those who will be left out of NRC

৯ এপ্রিলঃ এনআরসি থেকে যাদের নাম বাদ পড়বে, তাদের ভবিষ্যত নির্ধারণের জন্য এক হাজার ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠন করবে রাজ্য সরকার। মঙ্গলবার সুপ্রিম কোর্টকে এই তথ্যই দিয়েছেন রাজ্যের মুখ্যসচিব।

তিনি জানান, সে জন্য ৯০০ কোটি টাকা মঞ্জুরির প্রয়োজন রয়েছে। এক হাজার বিচারক নিয়োগ করতে হবে। সে জন্য কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রকের যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছে। প্রধান বিচারপতি রঞ্জন গগৈ জানতে চান, এত বিচারক কীভাবে নিয়োগ করা হবে।

মুখ্যসচিব বলেন, গৌহাটি হাইকোর্টের রেজিস্ট্রারের সঙ্গে বৈঠক বসেই এ সব ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত চূড়ান্ত করা হবে। রঞ্জন গগৈ ভালো মানুষ নিযুক্তির ওপর গুরুত্ব দেন। অসমের মুখ্যসচিব অবশ্য তাঁকে আশ্বস্ত করেন যে, অবসরপ্রাপ্ত বিচারকদেরই নিয়োগের কথা ভাবছে সরকার।

April 9: Assam Chief Secretary informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the state government is contemplating to have 1,000 tribunals to deal with pleas of those who have been left out of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The Chief Secretary further informed the court that Rs 900 crore needed to be sanctioned for the tribunals and nearly 1,000 judges were required.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi sought to know how the judges would be recruited, on a temporary basis, for these tribunals. To this, the Chief Secretary replied that the state government will approach the retired judges to head the tribunals.

It needs mention here that on 31 December, 2017, Part Draft NRC was released and subsequently on July 30th, 2018, the final Draft NRC was released. A total of 2,89, 83,677 persons were found eligible out of 3,29,91,384 applicants in the final draft of the NRC. Of these, 37,59,630 names have been rejected and the remaining 2,48,077 are on hold.
