Guwahati-Dullavcherra express will halt at Hilara and Sukritipur

way2barak, May 27 :— In a commendable move aimed at easing the travel difficulties of thousands of daily commuters, the Northeast Frontier Railway has announced temporary stoppages for the Guwahati-Dullavcherra-Guwahati Express at Hilara and Sukritipur stations. The decision comes in response to the ongoing repair works at the Gammon Bridge in Katigorah, a vital artery for Barak Valley’s transport infrastructure, and marks a significant stride toward responsive and adaptive public service.
Starting May 28, 2025, Train No. 15617/18 will include brief but vital halts at Hilara and Sukritipur for a duration of 45 days. The move is not only a welcome relief for local passengers but also a demonstration of the Railway’s commitment to ensuring continued connectivity even amidst logistical challenges. The Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway, in a statement issued from Maligaon, Guwahati, emphasized that the decision reflects the administration’s sensitive and region-specific approach during infrastructure maintenance periods.
As per the official notification, Train No. 15617 Guwahati-Dullavcherra Express will arrive at Hilara at 06:10 hrs and depart at 06:12 hrs daily from May 28. In the return direction, Train No. 15618 Dullavcherra-Guwahati Express will stop at Hilara at 14:37 hrs and leave at 14:39 hrs starting May 29. Additionally, Sukritipur station will see the 15617 Express halt at 06:23 hrs and depart at 06:25 hrs, further opening up travel options for commuters in the region.
The temporary halts are being hailed as a timely intervention, especially as the summer travel season gains momentum. Beyond merely offering convenience, this measure is poised to enhance last-mile connectivity, strengthening the transport fabric of the Barak Valley during a critical time. The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on inclusive infrastructure and user-responsive planning.
Moreover, the 45-day period will serve as a pilot phase, with railway authorities set to monitor passenger feedback and usage patterns closely. If the demand remains consistent, these stops could become a permanent feature, better integrating Hilara and Sukritipur into the regional rail network and transforming them from minor stations into key local junctions.
To the people of Hilara and Sukritipur, this isn’t just a change in the timetable, it’s a milestone of progress, an assurance of attention, and a tangible example of how infrastructure decisions can be tailored to the pulse of the people. In bridging the physical gap created by the repair works, the Northeast Frontier Railway is also bridging a long-standing need for equitable access.
This is stated in a press release issued from Regional office of Information & Public Relations Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam.
