Committee under the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run constituted in Cachar

way2barak, 24 March : In Pursuance of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India and as per instruction of the Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Transport Department, District Level Committee (DLC) for Cachar District under the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme 2022, is constituted.

District Commissioner, Cachar is appointed as the Chairman of the committee. Bidhan Sinha, Deputy Manager, Silchar Office, GIC will act as Member-Secretary. The members are the  concerned Circle Officers of all Circles,  Superintendent of Police, Joint Director of Health Services, District Transport Officer and Dilu Das, General Secretary, Netaji Chatra Yubo Sangstha.

Chairman-DC Rohan Kumar Jha informs that for implementation of the Scheme the Committee shall meet quarterly and undertake the following functions:

1. Evaluate progress of implementation of the Scheme in the this District and take corrective steps if necessary.

2. To submit quarterly report to the Standing Committee indicating month-wise statistics about the claim applications received, awarded, pending and reasons for pendency.

3. Keep liason with other authorities to ensure that the Scheme gets adequate publicity.

4. Provide guidance/ clarification to concerned authorities and claimants wherever called for.

5. Raise awareness about the rights available to the claimants and the provision of compensation under the scheme.
