Observation of National Voters’ Day at Women’s College, Silchar

way2barak, Jan 25: National Voter’s Day was observed amidst various awareness activities at Women’s College Silchar on Thursday.

The Department of Political Science initiated the program in the presence of Dr Sanghamitra Debnath, head Department of Philosophy and other teachers. Dr Avinandan Choudhury, head Department of Political Science administered the pledge to the students on their right to vote. The students were told on the importance of exercising ones right to vote. Later, the student participated in the essay writing competition and debate contest on “Nothin Like Voting, I vote for sure” at the newly opened Democracy Room in the college.

It may be mentioned that the Democracy Room acts as an information Centre regarding voters registration and awareness.
The winners of the competitive events were awarded with prizes as well.
