The chief guest of the occasion, Haran Dey, Retired Joint Director of DIPRO Silchar along with other dignitaries cut the ribbon and inaugurated the exhibition of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ Deputy Director, Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office, Guwahati Arijit Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech where he highlighted the objectives of organising such an exhibition highlighting the history of the freedom movement.

In his speech, Taimur Raja Choudhury, Chief Editor of Samayik Prasanga said, “The exhibition organised by the Central Bureau of Communication is indeed praiseworthy. Speaking during the occasion, Deputy Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mehbub Akam Laskar and Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau, Guwahati Pranab Kumar Nath praised the role of the Government for organising such informative exhibition which would inspire the children and the youth to remember and respect the freedom fighters. They also emphasised upon the ‘8 years of Seva Sushasan and Garib Kalyan’ steps adopted by the Government of India under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his speech, Sudarshan Gupta, Head of the Department of History, Radhamadhab College, Silchar praised the organisers for infusing life in the historical events leading to the independence of India. He said, “Such type of endeavour would imbibe the young minds in lessons of patriotism.” He, however, urged upon the organisers to include the achievements of freedom fighters of this region during any such exhibitions which would be organised in the future and also stressed on the use of local language in the posters.

Earlier during the day, an art competition was also organised, where school children drew paintings of freedom fighters and National Flag. Speaking during the occasion, Panthoibi Singha, Field Publicity Officer of Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Silchar highlighted the intention behind organising such a programme. She also urged upon the people at large to visit the exhibition.
