District Chairman of Inner Wheel Club visit Silchar to review various activities of IWC Silchar

way2barak, Nov.20: District 324 Chairman of Inner Wheel Club, Kakoli Choudhury came to Silchar on a two-day visit to review the activities of Inner Wheel Club of Silchar (IWC). She was present in Silchar on 18 & 19 November and took part in various activities of the club. However, due to Barak Bandh, the District Chairperson was unable to undergo a rigorous visit on the 18th of November.

Informing this, Sampa Banik, President of Inner Wheel Club, Silchar said, “Inspite of the constraints due to Barak Bandh, we managed to go to Kanakpur, where we made provision of a hand pump. Around 30 to 40 families residing there have almost no access to pure drinking water. The hand pump which we set up their will solve the issue of drinking water of these families at Kanakpur. Our District Chairman also accompanied us.”

“We are also happy to announce that we have got official permission from the concerned department to look after the cleanliness of the rotary at Rangirkhari point. We had put our banner there near the statue of Netaji and pledged to keep that rotary clean and will also take care of the beautification of the place. This work was undertaken on 19 Nov in the presence of our District Chairman. We will start the work of beautification of this rotary point within a few days,” added President of IWC Silchar.

During the day, the members of IWC Silchar along with District 324 Chairperson Kakoli Choudhury went to Central Jail. On that day, we distributed sanitary pads among the female inmates and also gave nutritious food to the children. The District Chairperson suggested to conduct some skill courses so that the female inmates may learn something and use this skill to earn money when they come out of the prison. IWC Silchar, on the basis of the suggestions offered by their District Chairman decided to chalk out a plan of action in this connection.

Sampa Banik also said, “On 18 Nov we had our Executive Committee meeting at the premises of Rotary Club of Silchar and also conducted the General Meeting in a hotel. We were really humbled at the speech delivered by our District Chairperson Kakoli Choudhury. She urged us to work keeping in mind the theme of the Inner Wheel Club- We Care.”

Board Members Sampa Banik, Madhuparna Basak, Moumita Gupta, Moutushi Roy, Mousumi Saha, Jhumki Saha, Madhumita Paul, Shilpi Ghosh among others were present during the various activities in connection with the visit of the District Chairman.
