Parimal Suklabaidya kick starts ‘River Ranching Programme’ across various districts
way2barak, Nov.10: Minister of Transport, Fisheries & Excise Minister Shri Parimal Suklabaidya today launched the River Ranching Programme, an initiative funded under PMMSY & Monitored by National Fisheries Development Board. The programme has been launched statewide across various districts under the guidance of respective district fishery development offices.
Minister Suklabaidya today launched this programme in Kamrup Metropolitan District in Uzanbazar Ghat wherein he released two lakh fish seeds in river Brahmaputra. The River Ranching Programme is aimed at promoting sustainable use & conservation of fishery resources in an economically & environmentally responsible manner, while ensuring the upgrading of traditional fisheries.
In line with the state wide launch of River Ranching Programme to achieve sustainable Fisheries,reducing degradation & conserving biodiversity, today I launched this programme in Kamrup(M) District in Uzanbazar Ghat wherein we released 2 lakh fish seeds in river Brahmaputra.(1/2) pic.twitter.com/eAuQEp9Mo5

The River Ranching Programme is incorporated under PMMSY Scheme as a special scheme.
In Assam, 22 districts have been selected to initiate this programme with a target of releasing 29 lakh fish seeds, cultivated at a cost of Rs. 87 lakhs.
