NDFB calls 12-hour Assam Bandh on 31 January
January 30: As a mark of protest against the verdict of life imprisonment of Ranjan Daimary and 10 others in 30/10 serial bomb blasts, the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) has given call for a 12-hour Asssam Bandh on 31 January. B Ohnjalu, General Secretary of NDFB informed this in a press release on Wednesday. B Ohnjalu further stated that in view of the conviction of its leader Ranjan Daimary, the outfit would be forced to reconsider the purpose of the peace process and re-evaluate the earnestness of Government of India in case its president Daimary is sent to jail.
CBI Special Court on Wednesday pronounced life imprisonment for National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) supremo Ranjan Daimary. He was given life imprisonment in the serial bomb blasts in Assam that claimed 88 lives and left around 500 injured on October 30, 2008.

Another ten found guilty in the crime were also sentenced to life imprisonment. Three others were fined and imprisoned for five years for their involvement in the heinous crime. At present, there are two factions of the NDFB – NDFB (P) led by Gobinda Basumatary and NDFB (R) led by Daimary.
