Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat goes below 19 mt, flowing at 18.95 mt at 9 PM on Saturday
The water level decreasing by 3 cm per hour
July 9: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak crossed the danger level on 18 June. However, after 13 days, at 3 PM on 1 July, the water level came down below danger level. But due to heavy rainfall on Saturday night, the water level of river Barak, started to rise once again and crossed the danger level at 9 PM on Sunday. The water level came down below danger level at 11 PM on 5 July.
However, rainfall on Tuesday night resulted in the rise of water level of Barak since 8 AM on Wednesday. From 8 AM on Wednesday, the water level of Barak increased again from 19.71 mt to 19.82 mt. After that, from 6 PM onwards, the water level at Barak started to fall. On Saturday, the level started to fall from 19.26 mt at 1 PM till 18.95 mt.
As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 9 PM on Saturday, was flowing below the danger level and was recorded at 18.95 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level is decreasing at 3 cm per hour.
The highest flood level at this point was recorded at 21.763 on 11 September, 2007.
