Flood 2.0: Principal Secretary holds meeting with NGOs for adoption of model relief camps in Cachar
June 29: Principal Secretary, Labour & Welfare, Govt of Assam, B. Kalyan Chakraborty in presence of DC Keerthi Jalli held a meeting in with NGOs and various organisations of the district at the conference hall of DC’s office here on Wednesday.
In the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held for creating model relief camps in the district. Representatives of various NGOS and organisations expressed their willingness to adopt 1 or 2 relief camps for providing all sorts of facilities to the inmates in the camps with opening of langars, child friendly spaces etc.
In the meeting, the representatives also discussed about exclusive high number of inmates in camps like G.C College, Cachar College, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School which will focus on the kid learning activities, creating awareness for hygiene and vector borne diseases etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary, B. Kalyan Chakraborty laid stress on creating a WhatsApp group amongst NGOs and various organisations for cooperating with productivity so that the maximum number of people can be reached for help in rescuing and providing relief materials.
Taking part in the discussion, DC Keerthi Jalli elaborated on the needs and requirements of inmates in the relief camps and urged people to reaffirm faith in the society in this emergency situation to make the relief camps with a feeling of “home away from home”. Commissioner, PN&RD, Bikram Kairi also spoke on the occasion.
