3 including a 7-year-old child die due to landslide in 2 separate incidents in Cachar

June 19: Torrential rainfall since the last few days has led to multiple landslides in different parts of Cachar district. On Sunday, three persons have lost their lives due to landslide here in Cachar in two separate incidents.

As per reports, the one such incident of landslide occurred at Chibitabichiya in Cachar- Hailakandi border area, while the other took place at Bhorakhai Tea Estate. At Chibitabichiya huge portion of a hill fell upon a house therein. As a result, a 7-year-old girl child lost his life. The deceased was identified as Taiyaba Begum.

In a similar way, a hill fell upon a house at Bhorakhai Tea Estate, which resulted in the death of 2 more persons. The deceased were identified as Shibu Ree and Shampa Ree.

On Sunday morning, SDRF and local police forces set to task in clearing the landslides and recovered the dead bodies, which were later on sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem.
