Top TT player D Vishwa dies in a tragic road accident while travelling from Guwahati to Shillong

April 17: Indian table tennis player Vishwa Deenadayalan of Tamil Nadu breathed his last in a tragic road accident. He was 18. He was on his way to Shillong to participate in the 83rd Senior National and Inter-State Championship. D. Vishwa passed away in a road accident on Sunday afternoon, while travelling by road from Guwahati to Shillong for the Senior National table tennis Championships.

Vishwa, a first-year B.Com student of Loyola College, was sitting in the rear when the car in which he was travelling collided with a truck. The driver and Vishwa died on the spot. The other three TTTA paddlers–R. Santosh Kumar, D. Kishore Kumar and S. Abhinash Prasannaji escaped with minor injuries.

Deenadayalan’s father and two of his family members will be arriving in Guwahati tonight and his embalmed body will be flown to Chennai on Monday morning. He was a promising player with several national ranking titles and international medals to his credit, was to represent India at the WTT Youth Contender at Linz, Austria, from April 27. He won the Under-19 Boys title during the Dehra Dun National Ranking Tournament this January.
