Gang of robbers loot cash & valuables at gunpoint in Silchar

March 12: An incident of armed robbery took place in the heart of Silchar town on Friday late night. As per reports, a gang of 4 dacoits armed with guns broke open the grill gate of a teachers house at Vivekananda Road, Silchar.

After breaking the door, the gang of robbers pointed gun at the teacher Jinnatara Begum and her daughter. The dacoits tied the hands of the mother- daughter duo and ransacked the entire house.

The robbers looted cash worth Rs. 16,000 and gold ornaments worth lakhs. However, suddenly the son of the victim teacher who was sleeping in an adjoining room suddenly heard the commotion and woke up from the sleep. He at once raised a hue and cry from inside his room. At this, the gang of robbers fled away from the spot with cash and valuables.

As the robbers went off, the son of the victim teacher came out of his room and untied the hands of his mother and sister. Immediately the police was informed. Police forces reached the spot and have started investigation.
