Himanta Biswa pays obeisance to Lata Mangeshkar, meets her family in Mumbai
Feb. 16: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma offered his obeisance to the recently departed legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Wednesday. He personally met with the family members of the iconic singer and offered his condolence. Dr Sarma met Lata Mageshkar’s sister Usha Mangeshkar and her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar at their residence in Mumbai.
Taking to his twitter handle, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Given her deep affection with Assam, it was only befitting that I paid my obeisance to @mangeshkarlata Didi by personally meeting Smt Usha Mangeshkar, Sri Hridaynath Mangeshkar & family in Mumbai. Heartwarming to see a Gamusa adoring seat of Lata Di’s portrait. Bonding continues.”

India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at 8.12 AM on Sunday due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. She was 92. The 92-year-old singer tested positive for Covid with mild symptoms and was admitted on January 8 at Breach Candy Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) where she was being treated by Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors. She has sung in more than 36 languages and has got to her credit more than 30,000 songs.
