India records 2,68,833 fresh Covid cases, Omicron tally goes upto 6,401 on Saturday

Jan. 15: India reported 2,68,833 new Covid-19 positive cases on Saturday, 1.8 per cent higher than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry. Total recoveries were at 3,49,47,390 across the country. A total of 1,22,684 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 94.83 per cent. As many as 402 people have died of Covid during the past 24-hour period, according to the Health Ministry.

India’s active caseload stands at 14,17,820. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 1,45,747. The daily positivity rate stood at 16.66 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 12.84 per cent.

This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,68,50,962. Of this, 6,041 cases were of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus.
