Provide infrastructural facilities to unemployed youths, says Ramen Deka in Silchar

Dec. 29: Ramen Deka, Vice Chairman, State Innovation and Transformation Aayog, appealed government officials to provide infrastructural facilities to young people who are eager to implement innovative projects.
He shared various suggestions with the top officials of the Cachar District at a meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday . He also emphasized on the need to generate employment for unemployed youths by applying innovative ideas in the district.

Deka, vice-chairman of the commission, said bamboo produced in Barak Valley could be used to make industrial products and skills development training could be arranged for school drop-outs. Besides, training in skill development can also be organized to create human resources like mason, carpenter, plumber etc. As a result, besides creating skilled artisans in these fields, there are also ample employment opportunities for many unemployed youths.

In the presence of District Development Commissioner, Cachar, Rajib Roy, the District Project Manager of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, Cachar, Biplob Nath informed that 345 UDYAM registration have been done by SHG members in Cachar District. He further mentioned that 4 SHG members have started LED Bulb making in four development blocks of the district. Twenty-two items produced by SHG are being sold online, the DPM of the livelihood mission said. In this context, Vice Chairman Deka directed to give the idea of marketing the products of Self help groups to the government department.

Participating in the meeting, District Fishery Development Officer, Rafiqul Haque Laskar proposed to set up a Fishery Research Center on fish farming, a means of livelihood for four lakh people in Barak Valley. In the meeting , Inspector of Schools, Cachar, Semina Yasmin Ara Rahman proposed to set up a Skill Development Center for the students who have dropped out of secondary school for training in embroidery tailoring etc. District Agriculture Officer L.I Singh, who was present at the meeting, said that there are 14,943 ineligible KCC borrowers in the district.

In this context, Vice Chairman Deka asked to create pressure on these ineligible borrowers to repay the loan or to file a case with the police. The meeting also advised the district agriculture department to work closely with the state agricultural university to improve the method of agricultural production. Besides, the department informed that work is underway with the target of providing new water connection to 1 lakh 85 thousand families under Jal Jeevan Mission. Deka, a former MP and vice-chairman of the commission, directed the meeting to take steps to raise awareness among the district industry and commerce (DICC) for lending to start-up enterprises.
