Illegal movement of cattle: BSF seizes 18 buffaloes along with 2 vehicles
Nov. 25: Acting a specific input, regarding illegal movement of cattle during early hours on Thursday in a truck on NH-06 from Barak Valley via Katakhal – Panchgram – Katigorah – Gumrah to Meghalaya side for smuggling purpose, BSF plunged into immediate action.
At about 04.30 hours, one suspected truck and a car was intercepted and signaled to stop by BSF party. Sensing the presence of BSF, driver and his assistant fled away from the spot leaving behind the truck on the road side on Assam para road ( Craigpark Tea garden, Gumrah), near Gumrah market. An Alto car was also found on NH- 06, near Mosque in village Khelma. The driver of Alto Car (who is suspected to be the owner of truck and cattle), also fled away towards village Khelma.
After search of truck, 18 cattle (Buffaloes) were found and seized along with the truck and Alto car. These were handed over to PICP Gumrah for legal action with requisition to lodge an FIR.
*DETAILS OF SEIZURE*
i) 18 Buffaloes ( 17 Big size and 01 Small size (Total cost-(17 x Rs.80,000)+(01×Rs.40,000)=Rs.14,00,000
ii) One Tata Truck (LPT 3118) having Registration No. AS 01 DD 8569, having approx value – Rs.30,48,000
iii) One Maruti Alto Car, having Registration No. AS 01 DD 8569 (Fitted on truck) approx value – Rs.2,50,000
Total value of seizure – Rs.14,00,000 + Rs.30, 48,000 + 2,50,000 = Rs.46,98,000 (Rupees forty six lakh ninety eight thousand only).
