Tweet by Himanta about rise in Covid & closure of schools again is FAKE, clarifies the CM

Nov. 3: A screenshot of a tweet supposedly from the handle of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is doing the rounds on various social media platforms. The viral tweet states, “As per covid-19 cases are increasing in Assam very fast. On 31st October it cross 300+ possitive cases. So the Education department and the government decided to closed school’s and collages’s from 20th November. #Staysafe.” Infact, the very language of the tweet is full of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Taking to his twitter handle on Wednesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified, “A FAKE tweet bearing my name is circulating saying that since cases of #COVID19 have gone up schools & colleges are being closed down from Nov 20. This is WRONG & should not be heeded to. Stay off misinformation and fake news! I am advising @assampolice to take note and act.”

On Wednesday, out of 39,657 tests, 276 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 6,11,487. The positivity rate in the state is 0.70 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 119 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 04 died in the state due to COVID-19. The death toll in the state stands at 6,015. The recovery rate is 98.42 percent.

It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 270 persons tested positive in Assam and 07 deaths were registered.
