Reservation for specially-abled candidates in Govt jobs increased from 3% to 4% in Assam

Police verification not necessary for those selected for appointment in State government jobs.

Sept. 10:  In the weekly Assam Cabinet on 09 September, several key decisions regarding Jorhat-Majuli bridge, suspension of operation against a Dimasa outfit, police verification for Govt jobs, mineral royalty, etc., were taken. The weekly Cabinet meeting started with condolence for the unfortunate boat accident at Nimatighat. The Cabinet Meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Boat tragedy at Nimatighat: Cabinet mourned the tragic boat accident at Nimatighat and extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives Addl Chief Secy Maninder Singh to conduct inquiry into the incident and submit report within one month Jorhat Police directed to register a criminal case against those responsible for the incident

Jorhat-Majuli bridge: Finance Minister Ajanta Neog to constantly monitor construction of Jorhat-Majuli bridge with additional support from State Govt.

Suspension of Operation: One-month Suspension of Operation against Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), after the militant outfit declared unilateral ceasefire for six months.

Police verification:  Police verification not necessary for those selected for appointment in State government jobs. Candidates have to submit only a notarised affidavit. Appropriate steps to be taken in case of misrepresentation of facts.

Reservation: Reservation for specially-abled candidates in Government jobs to be increased from 3% to 4%.

Mineral royalty: For Government construction work, royalty payable to Forest Dept for using construction materials like sand, stones etc., to be deducted from contractor’s bill and submitted at treasury. For private construction in urban areas, fixed royalty can be paid in 4 installments at treasury.

Distance learning: Degree, diploma issued by Government approved distance learning institutes to be considered on par with on-campus courses for Government jobs

Organic Mission: Assam State Organic Mission Agency (ASOMA) to be constituted with Mission Organic Value Chain Development, Assam and National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM), Assam under its ambit.
