13 schools selected for ward-wise 2nd dose vaccination in Silchar Municipal areas

Aug 28: A special drive for 2nd dose of Covishield and Covaxin will be conducted in Cachar district from 1 September, 2021. Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday informed that around 3 months ago, ward-wise vaccination drive was conducted in the municipal areas of Silchar. Those who had availed their 1st dose during the ward-wise drive, their 2nd dose is due now. So from 1 September to 15 September, 2nd dose will be provided again ward-wise in Silchar Municipal area.

It is in this connection that Medical & Health Officer-I of Urban Family Welfare Unit, Silchar wrote a letter to the Deputy Inspector of Schools, Cachar wherein he has requested to allow the Head teachers of 13 schools for management of this Covid vaccination programme in the respective schools. He stated that the special drive of Covishield 2nd dose vaccine will be provided in these schools of Silchar town from 1 September for a period of 15 days.

The list of schools for which the Deputy Inspector of Schools, Cachar was asked to make arrangements are:

1. Rashbehari Nimna Buniyadi Patshala, Rongpur: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
2. Abhayacharan Patshala, Sadarghat: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
3. Nityamoyee LP School, Tarapur: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
4. Durga Sankar Patshala, Ambicapatty: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
5. Nazirpatty Model LP School: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
6. Hazi Keramatullah Model LP School, Water Works Road: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
7. Shib Colony LP School: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
8. Hindi Patshala, Sillongpatty: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
9. Radhamadhab Buniyadi School, Kanakpur Road: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
10. Sreepally LP School, 1st Link Road: Vaccination programme will be started from 1 September.
11. Radharaman School, Malugram: Vaccination programme will be started in due course and will be informed accordingly.
12. Ghoniala Junior Basic School, Ghoniala: Vaccination programme will be started in due course and will be informed accordingly.
13. Chaitanyanagar LP School, Samiji Road: Vaccination programme will be started in due course and will be informed accordingly.

A total of 6,01,890 people of Cachar district were administered the 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine, whereas, 1,19,885 persons were provided 2nd dose. Further, 7,984 persons of Cachar who had taken 1st dose of Covaxin are yet to take the second dose. Also, 17, 810 persons who have been administered 1st dose of Covishield will have to take its 2nd dose. Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert has appealed to the people to avail there 2nd dose in the different vaccination centres within their stipulated time.
