10 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Sunday, 1 death at SMCH

Aug 15:  A total of 10 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 1,693 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 09 persons were found positive, whereas only 01 person was detected as positive in RT-PCR test. It needs mention here that 34 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Saturday.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 August to 5 PM on 15 August) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as:

  • Tutu Miyan Laskar (60) from Sonai in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 10 August, 2021. He, however, breathed his last at 2.50 PM on 15 August, 2021.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 August, there were 41 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 22 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 19 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support and 26 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 04 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 of them were discharged.
