3 more Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

28 patients in ICU, 5 in ventilator support & 41 put under oxygen at SMCH

July 29: The Covid-19 situation is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 28 July to 5 PM on 29 July) witnessed the death of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Thursday evening. One of them is from manipur, the other two are from Karimganj and Hailakandi districts respectively. They were identified as:

  • Y Nabachandra Singh (50) from Jiribam in Manipur was admitted at SMCH on 26 July. The patient, however, passed away at 8 PM on 28 July.
  • Basanti Bala Roy (70) from Katlicherra Tea Estate in Hailakandi district took admission at SMCH on 28 July. She breathed her last at 7.30 AM on 29 July.
  • Haji Foyez Ali (65) from Jakiyatola in Karimganj district got admitted at SMCH on 24 July. He died at 11 AM on 29 July.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 29 July, there were 66 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 28 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 49 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 5 patients were put under ventilator support and 41 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 08 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 11 of them were discharged.
