Ahead of Budget session, Finance Minister meets Assam BJP MPs
Issue of reopening of the Cachar and Nagaon paper mills discussed
June 25: Just ahead of the Budget Session, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called on 10 BJP MPs from Assam on Monday. A gamut of issues were discussed among them. However, the issue of reopening of the Cachar and Nagaon Paper Mills remained the central point of discussion. Dr. Rajdeep Roy briefed the Union Minister about the present state of affairs of the two HPC mills and put forward suggestions for their revival.
Union minister for food processing Rameswar Tali and all BJP MPs from Assam including nine Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha MPs met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her 15 Safdarjang Road residence. Issues pertaining to the development of Assam were raised by the MP’s. Overall, the MP’s were satisfied talking with the minister. They are hopeful that Assam will be provided special attention in the union budget which will be presented in the Lok Sabha on 5 July, 2019.
