Helicopter carrying CDS Bipin Rawat crashes

Dec. 8: In an unfortunate development, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying Chief Defence of Staff Bipin Rawat and 12 others including his family members crashed in Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday,  The crash occurred around 12 noon.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is also monitoring the situation. He has already briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the crash. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will brief the Parliament on the crash of an army chopper in Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu. The chopper had CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife and staff members on board.

An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
