COVID-19 Assam: 1529 tests, 1398 negative, 25 positive, 196 result awaited

April 4: Amidst the outbreak of nationwide coronavirus, every state and Union territories and conducting tests to ascertain the infected person. Till now, 1529 persons were tested in 5 labs in Assam. Out of these these, 1308 samples were tested negative, 25 positive and the results of 196 are awaited.

The 1529 samples tested in Assam also includes 812 samples of those in connection with attending Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi, now regarded as the ‘hot-bed of coronavirus.’ Out of 812 Nizamuddin returned inhabitants of Assam, 636 were tested negative, 24 positive and the results of 152 were awaited. It needs mention that out of the 25 positive patients of Assam, 24 had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz.

Himanta expressed resentment at those Nizamuddin Markaz attendees who are still hiding and not disclosing before the health officials. He once again appealed to all Markaz attendees from Assam to voluntarily disclose or else from Sunday onwards strict police action will be initiated against them. Himanta Biswa Sarma was speaking this in a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday.
