5th Issue of Wall Magazine ‘Vanguard’ inaugurated at Radhamadhab College

September 17: Rapids and rivers, Himalayan mountains on 3 sides, forests echoing with the voices of the creatures that live inside, tribal people living in perfect harmony with the nature, hunting and fishing, sweet aroma of tea in the air, Golden Mahseer to river Dolphins, North East is indeed a paradise waiting to be explored. The great valleys of the mighty Brahmaputra river mesmerize a traveler at first glance, taking him back in time, allowing him to shed all his burdens and instead just relax and connect with the planet. These were the words uttered by Dr. Ashima Roy, Head, Department of Political Science of Radhamadhab College, Silchar during the inauguration of the 5th Issue of ‘Vanguard’, the wall magazine of the department.

This 5th issue of ‘Vanguard’ is based on the theme ‘Northeast India at a glance.’ It was formally inaugurated by the President of the college Governing Body, Prof. Nikhil Bhushan Dey. Speaking during the occasion, Prof. Dey said “India’s North East, called the land of the seven sisters, is a region which can be best described as a region full of diversity and natural resources.The people of the North-East live a very simple life, all the various tribes and cultures still live in accordance to the environment, and nature plays a very big role in their survival. I thank the department of Political Science for choosing such a relevant theme. ”

Dr. P.K. Sinha, Principal in-charge and former HOD of Political Science highlighted the importance of wall magazines in educational institutions. He said that it is a very vital tool for the students to express their views on a gamut of issues. He further urged upon the Head of the department of Political Science to make the wall magazine bi-annual, if possible.”

Dr. Ashima Roy expressed special thanks to the students, colleagues of her department, teaching fraternity of RMC, the Principal for their whole-hearted support in this endeavour. The other two faculty members of Political Science, Jiban Das, Dr. Bidhan Barman along with teachers of other departments were also present during the occasion.
