474 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Monday, 6 deaths at SMCH
May 24: A total of 474 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Monday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 7,297 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 459 were found positive, whereas 15 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday evening. It needs mention here that on Saturday, 302 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 06 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 06 deceased, 03 are from Cachar district, 02 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as Adbul Madrib (53) from Badarpur in Karimganj district, Amalendu Deb (70) from Hailakandi, Samarendra Chandra Paul (63) from Shyamananda Lane, Silchar, Surajit Bhumijh (40) from Kalinagar in Cachar, Sukia Koiri (47) from Tilunagar in Cachar and Santosh Namasudra (55) from Batunagar in Karimganj.
