MLA of Raha suspended by Congress for open support to BJP-led state govt

Jan. 1: On Friday, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) suspended its MLA (from Raha constituency) Sashikanta Das from the party on charges of indulging in anti-party activities. This comes after the MLA pledged his commitment to politically support the BJP-led Assam government on 20 December. Das was issued a show-cause notice by the Congress soon after he made the comment from the CMs chamber in the Assam Legislative Assembly complex. Congress now have 27 MLA’s in the Assembly.
