3 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

87 patients in ICU, 23 in ventilator support & 142 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 11: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 10 June to 5 PM on 11 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 02 are from Cachar, whereas 01 belongs to Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

  • Bela Rani Sen (84) from Vivekananda Road, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 8 June. She, however, passed away at 6.30 PM on 10 June.
  • Champalal Rabidas (68) from Jirighat in Cachar took admission at SMCH on 8 June. He breathed his last at 10 PM on 10 June.
  • Hira Majumdar (32) from Lakhinagar Part 2 in Hailakandi district got admitted at SMCH on 2 June. He died at 2.30 PM on 11 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 11 June, there were 201 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 87 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 114 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 23 patients were put under ventilator support and 142 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 23 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 32 of them were discharged. Further, 06 of them have opted for home isolation.
