279 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Saturday, 2 deaths at SMCH
June 5: A total of 279 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Saturday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 9,704 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 264 were found positive, whereas 15 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO on Saturday evening. Swab samples of 929 persons were sent for RT-PCR test, the reports for which will be made available tonight. It needs mention here that 316 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Friday.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 June to 5 PM on 5 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 2 deceased are from Cachar district.
The deceased were identified as Sujit Barman (65) from Kulicherra in Cachar district and Kanailal Lohar (85) from Darmikhal in Cachar.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 5 June, there were 243 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 95 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 148 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 32 patients were put under ventilator support and 148 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 30 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 42 of them were discharged. Further, 40 of them have opted for home isolation.
