273 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Monday, 6 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 3,200 in Cachar; 372 patients discharged on Monday

June 7: A total of 273 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Monday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 10,795 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 237 were found positive, whereas 36 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO on Monday evening. Aso, 372 patients were discharged during the day. At present, there are 3,200 active patients in the district. It needs mention here that 301 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Sunday.

On Monday, SMCH achieved the rare distinction of completing 2,00,000 RT-PCR tests. This is the first medical college in entire Northeast India to complete 2,00,000 RT-PCR Test. Informing this, Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH said that the Microbiology Department has successfully conducted 2,00,281 RT-PCR tests till 5 PM on 7 June, out of which, 7,609 samples were detected as Covid-19 positive.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 6 June to 5 PM on 7 June) witnessed demise of 06 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 6 deceased, 05 are from Cachar district, while 01 is from Karimganj district.

The deceased were identified as Satish Biswas (65) from Dolu in Cachar, Rahim Uddin Barbhuiya (40) from NIT Silchar, Sudhir Das (72) from Udharbond in Cachar, Hawarunnesha (65) from Patherkandi in Karimganj district, Pran Chandra Dushad (83) from Silcorrie, Cachar and Sheetal Das (66) from Rongpur, Silchar.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 7 June, there were 231 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 99 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 132 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 30 patients were put under ventilator support and 134 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 34 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 45 of them were discharged. Further, 29 of them have opted for home isolation.
