2706 tests +ve in Assam on Friday, state tally rises to 74,501

August 14: On Friday, 2706 persons tested positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has gone upto 74,501, out of which, 24,940 are active. In Cachar district, a total of 97 persons tested positive during the day. Further, 6 persons died on Friday, thereby taking the death tally to 175. In a tweet, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 2706 COVID cases detected out of 49603 tests done in last 24 hours. Positivity rate- 5.45% Kamrup (M)- 719, Dibrugarh- 264, Kamrup (R)- 258, Nagaon- 145.”
