UDAN 4.0: Now flights to ply on Imphal – Silchar & Silchar – Shillong routes

Oct. 8: It’s indeed a good news for civil aviation in North East India in general and for Barak Valley in particular. A total of eight aviation companies, including old players such as SpiceJet and IndiGo, have emerged as winners for 76 routes of UDAN-4. Confirming this news published by CNBC TV18, Silchar Airport in its official Facebook stated that “Air India’s regional arm Alliance Air is the third on the winners’ list with 14 routes including Imphal to Silchar.” The post further mentioned, “IndiGo has won at least eight routes which include Silchar to Shillong.”

As per the report by CNBC, after three rounds of bidding under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)- Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), 688 valid routes were awarded, out of which 281 routes were operationalized connecting 45 RCS airports & 5 heliports.
