Himanta visits Bongaigaon to review COVID-19 situation

May 4:Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Bongaigaon to take stock of the COVID-19 situation over there. He was accompanied by Minister of State Pijush Hazarika. They went to get a first-hand experience of the containment zone. They also visited the quarantine centre at the district civil hospital. While interacting with district and health officials, the minister advised them to ensure finest care for the 5 positive patients in Bongaigaon district.

Taking to his twitter handle, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Visited Bongaigaon along with MoS @ Pijush _hazarika to review #COVID19 situation, get first-hand assessment of the containment zone, and check preparedness at the Quarantine Centre at Civil Hospital. Advised Dest Admin to ensure finest care for 5 positive patients.”

It is important to note that 30 of Assam’s 33 districts fall in the “green” zone, the remainder three in the “orange” zone category. Bongaigaon somehow has not been enlisted as “red” by the Union Ministry as yet. However,  Bongaigaon Block Public Health Centre was sealed after two employees from there tested COVID-19 positive.
