Heavy rainfall alert on 24-25 Oct; DDMA Cachar alerts all concerned officials

way2barak, Oct.23: As per Bulletin issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences, it has been stated that “heavy to very heavy rainfall” is likely to occur over South Assam on 24th & 25th October, 2022.

In this regard, ADC cum CEO of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Cachar in a letter issued on 23 Oct, 2022 urged upon all members of District IRS Team, Executive Officer SMB, all Circle Officers of the district, Station Officer, Fire & Emergency Services and in-charge of SDRF Team to instruct all functionaries to remain alert and pro-active steps will have to be taken if situation worsens.

All were further asked to remain in co-ordination with DDMA- DEOC Control Room until the predicted weather warning calms clown.

The IMD earlier stated, “Fairly widespread/ Widespread light/ moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/ lightning very likely over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 24th -26th and Arunachal Pradesh on 25th October, 2022. Isolated very heavy rainfall also very likely over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on 25th & 26th October, 2022.”
