APCC takes out protest demonstration in Guwahati, demands action against Pijush & Krishnendu

April 3: Congress leaders & workers join in a protest movement in Guwahati against Assam EVM issue. Party leader Sushmita Dev said, “All BJP candidates are resorting to illegal means. People are with us, BJP is perturbed. What action did EC take against Krishnendu Pal, in whose vehicle EVM was found?”

The candidate must be disqualified and all officers concerned should be investigated. The BJPs fears of losing should not jeopardise the democratic process.”

The Congress further raised the demand of suspending the candidature of BJP leader Pijush Hazarika for threatening a journalist. Demand was also raised to cancel the candidature of Krishnendu Paul in whose car the polled EVM was found. Congress said that these two BJP leaders must be booked by the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, the ECI has placed the Presiding Officer and 3 other officials under suspension in connection with using the vehicle of BJP leader while returning to deposit centre in the vehicle of BJP candidate. Although the seals of the EVM were found intact, it has nevertheless been decided to do a re-poll at No. 149- Indira M.V. School of LAC 1 Ratabari (SC) as added precaution. A report has also been sought from the Special Observer.
