Govt to build 500-km roads & facilitate provincialisation of 10 colleges under BTR: CM

way2barak, Sept.6: The Assam Cabinet met in Kokrajhar today as part of the government’s initiative to hold Cabinet meetings in different districts. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier during the day met CEM, EMs, Members & officials of BTC where he reiterated the commitment to develop BTR. “By scripting success stories in agro-forestry, agriculture & tourism, BTR can turn Bodofa Upendranath Brahma’s dream of progress into a reality and contribute to Assam’s growth,” stated the Chief Minister.

The CM announced the following:

College provincialisation: Govt to accord approval to BTC for provincialisation of 10 colleges in BTR areas

Boosting road infrastructure: 2500 cr to be allotted for construction of 500 kin roads, including bridges, in BTR under Chief Minister’s Goodwill project. Rs.250 cr to be released this financial year and remaining Rs.250 cr to be released in next financial year. Each road to be constructed under the schemes should be at least 10 km in length.
