15 degree colleges including 3 in Barak Valley & 10 law colleges to be established in Assam
Sept. 12: Nine women colleges will be built in Assam. The construction work of these nine colleges will began in October- November, 2020. Out of the nine new women colleges, 1 each college will be built in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi. This was announced by State Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing in Guwahati on Saturday. Apart from the 3 women colleges in Barak Valley, the other 6 colleges will be built in Barpeta, Nagaon, Goalpara, Darrang, Bilasipara, and Golakganj areas of Assam. An amount of Rs.303.3 crore has been sanctioned for this purpose by the state government.
Apart from these 9 women colleges, another 6 degree colleges will also be established in the state in Chirang, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Majuli and Baksa. A sum of Rs. 100 crore has been approved for these purpose. The minister said that the work for the 6 degree colleges will also start very soon.
Another 10 new law colleges will also be built in Assam at an expense of Rs.33 crore. These law colleges will be established in Silchar, Rangia, Bilasipara, Tihu, Raha, Jorhat, Diphu, Dibrugarh, Tezpur and North Lakhimpur. The work for building these 10 colleges will start in the month of December.
