13 motor pumps already in action, 11 more pumps from Guwahati to arrive in Silchar
July 1: Chief Minister Dr Sarma, who visited Silchar third time in the past 10 days to review the flood situation here, told reporters that 13 motor pumps had been pressed into service in Silchar to clear the waterlogged roads and 20 more such machines were being brought from Guwahati for the same. “Altogether, 33 pumps will be operational to flush out floodwaters from various areas in Silchar and hopefully the stagnant water will be cleared in the next few days,” mentioned Dr Sarma.
Later during the day, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Guwahati in a letter issued to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar stated that 11 pumps have been arranged from Guwahati Municipal Coorporation (GMC), which would be transported through through two trucks on 2 July, 2022.
