1,01,539 students provided ₹1,000 each from CM’s relief fund as ‘Special Book Grant’
July 16: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during the recent devastating flood had announced to provide Rs.1,000 each to the students affected during the recent floods in the state as ‘Special Book Grant’.
On Saturday, the Chief Minister announced: “In our humble effort to provide relief to students affected during recent floods in the State, we have provided an assistance of ₹1,000 each to over 1 lakh student beneficiaries, from CM’s Relief Fund. It’s our sincere commitment to stand by the students during this tough time.”

Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu in a tweet informed, “Joined Hon’ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Hon’ble HM Sri Jogen Mohan in transferring Rs. 1,000 each to 1 lakh flood-affected students as ‘Special Book Grant’ through DBT mode. The Education Department will provide textbooks free-of-cost to those students who have lost their books in the flood. In this moment of need, Assam Government resolutely stands by its students.”
16,046 students of Cachar, 3,142 students of Hailakandi and 2,550 students of Karimganj districts in Barak Valley were also given Rs.1,000 each on Saturday. A total amount of Rs.10.05 crore was transferred in the accounts of 1,01,539 students of the state.
