Cachar dist administration files FIR against 385 air passengers who evaded Covid test
April 22: A total of 385 air passengers on Wednesday evaded mandatory Covid-19 test on Wednesday. This was informed by Sumit Sattawan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. As per the latest SOP all air passengers travelling from outside Assam were to undergo mandatory Covid test on arrival in the airports within Assam. As such, Cachar district administration made arrangement for testing the passengers at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital at Tikol. The testing was started on Wednesday. But surprisingly 385 passengers skipped the test and went away.
It is in this regard that FIR was registered by the Cachar District Administration against 385 erring air passengers. In a letter addressed to the Superintendent of Police, Cachar, ADC Sumit Sattawan on 22 April wrote, “With reference to subject above and letter under reference, I would like to bring to your kind notice that a total of 385 passengers skipped mandatory testing in Silchar Airport. Please find attached with this letter list of such passengers along with their mobile numbers as obtained from flight carriers. I request you to kindly initiate case proceedings against these persons by filing FIR for violating government orders and putting society at risk during COVID Pandemic time.”
