With 62 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 236 on 17 June

Active cases 1,799 in Cachar; 553 discharged on Thursday

June 17: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Thursday at 10 PM. As per the latest data, 62 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 236 persons were found positive in the district on 17 June. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 174 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,799. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Thursday night. Also, 553 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 262 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 7,885 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 157 persons were found positive, whereas 79 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 15,963, whereas during this phase, 14,010 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, the district authority informed that out of the 1,799 active patients:

  • 148 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 11 at MH
  • 16 at SM Dev Civil Hospital
  • 21 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 17 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 00 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 21 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 18 at Valley Hospital
  • 08 at South City Hospital
  • 00 at Nightingale Hospital
  • 10 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 11 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
  • 02 Palonghat Model Hospital
  • 1,515 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 16 June to 5 PM on 17 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. His detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. The deceased is from Hailakandi town. However, none from Cachar died at SMCH during the day. The deceased from Hailakandi was identified as:

  • Sutapa Chanda (38) from Ward No. 4 in Hailakandi was admitted at SMCH on 14 June. She, however, passed away at 10.30 AM on 17 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 17 June, there were 140 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 78 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 46 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 102 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 11 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 34 of them were discharged. Further, 15 of them have opted for home isolation.
