DC Cachar visits flood affected areas under Udharbond & Sonai constituency

May 24: Keeping upto the relief operations, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Keerthi Jalli is continuing her efforts in various parts of the district. On Tuesday, DC Jalli visited Arkatipur, Chappanhal, Mazargram, Kashipur areas, from where earlier a drowning case was reported. She also inspected the present flood situation and relief distribution works in nearby Gaon Panchayats as well.

Travelling on a boat, DC Keerthi Jalli inspected the situation in the flood affected areas including the nearby embankment area and Digharkashipur also. Expressing her views, DC Jalli said that although the flood situation in the district has improved, the low-lying areas are still under water. She requested the flood affected people to become more vigilant as flood water has entered submerging new areas. She also urged the public, especially to the children to be vigilant and keep themselves away from flood waters noting that any untoward incident could happen at any time in these areas.

During her visit, Udharband Circle Officer Rituraj Bordoloi, Udharband Police Station OC Pradeep Haloi, SK Bari and others were also present.

Earlier on Monday, DC Jalli along with former MLA Sonai, Aminul Haque Laskar and other officials also visited Rangirghat GP, Mohanpur GP and some parts of Swadhin Bazar GP of East Sonai and distributed essential relief materials to the flood affected people of that area. DC Jalli also took stock of the situation and learnt problems faced by the flood affected people of Madurbandi village, Barkhalpar , Selurpar area under Sonai constituency and expressed her concern noticing the plight of the cattle due to ongoing flood situation. She instructed the officials to build some sheds for cattle and ensure installation of high mast lamp in the area for cattle shelter.

While sharing his reaction ,former Sonai MLA ,Aminul Haque Laskar said “Our DC Keerthi Jalli as a lady administrator and her entire team, including circle officer Dr Dipankar Nath and assistant circle officer Sonai Bikash Chhetri visited the flood-hit area travelling on a country boat without donning any life jacket and supports. She deserved an award like KarmaShree award for her active work and courage which is highly commendable.”
