DC Cachar convenes meeting regarding improvement of Silchar- Hailakandi road

Sept. 28: The Cachar district administration held a meeting with concerned agencies for improvement of Silchar-Hailakandi Road and a gamut of issues relating to its cleanliness and hygiene. Convening a meeting at her office conference hall here on Monday, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli observed that owing to haphazard parking and unhygienic conditions, the citizens are facing lot of hardships in using the road.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the need for implementation of source segregation of waste at doorstep to avoid piling on several stretches of the road as well as removal of all hindrances like haphazard parking of vehicles, dumping of building materials, garbage etc.for smooth vehicular movement including ambulances on the all- important road on which stands SMC&H, many private hospitals and educational institutions like the Assam University and NIT, Silchar.

Jalli instructed the concerned BDOs of Silchar and Borjalenga as well as the Panchayati Raj officials and representatives of the concerned GPs to identify parking slots, vending zones and also carry out awareness campaigns amongst the residents regarding implementation of door-to-door collection and proper disposal of segregated waste materials/garbage in their respective areas for a clean and pollution-free environment which is vital for leading a healthy life in the present pandemic situation and at the same time help the district administration in keeping the areas spic and span.

The meeting was attended by Sumit Sattawan, ADC, Navanita Hazarika, BDO Silchar, Anjana Paul, BDO, Borjalenga, Rasaraj Das, SEO, DRDA, Cachar and GP Presidents and Secretaries of the concerned GPs amongst others.
