7 new COVID-19 positive cases in Hailakandi; total tally 564
July 14: Seven more fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in South Assam’s Hailakandi district in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 564. Health authorities here disclosed that Saharul Islam Laskar, 19, Khadija Begum, 22, Pinku Nath 52, Gopal Chanda, 50, Ripon Hussain Mazumder, 23, Samsul Hoque Choudhury, 43, and Faruque Ahmed Mazumder, 24, all turned out positive. Among them, a barber named Gopal Chanda of Riya Salon, Lakhisahar under Ward No.16 of Hailakandi Municipal Board tested positive on Tuesday. This is the second instance of a barber being found coronavirus positive.
Of the infected persons, one was under facility quarantine centre at Polytechnic Institute, two under home quarantine at Lala, one at Lakhisahar Ward No.16 of Hailakandi Municipal Board and three at ALC quarantine centre. Four have been admitted at Algapur Model Hospital, one at Dholai Model Hospital and two at SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital.
15 police personnel have tested positive so far, besides 12 CRPF and BSF personnel. 18 employees, including an ADC of the DC’s establishment have been found COVID-19 positive. 326 cured persons have been discharged from different hospitals.There are 229 active cases in the district, as per the health bulletin released on Monday.
Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 1,115 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 4,827 persons under home quarantine. Of the 11,287 swab samples taken, 9,004 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 1,084 persons are awaited.
