Lok Sabha Polls 2019: Training of Counting officials & staff begins at Silchar

May 16: The seven rounds of Lok Sabha Election 2019 which began on 11 April will come to an end on 19 May. The polling for the Silchar Parliamentary constituency seat was held on 18 April, 2019.Along with the rest of the country, counting of votes will also take place for the Silchar Parliamentary Constituency on 23 May, 2019.

It’s indeed a feather in the cap of the Returning Officer of Cachar that no re-poll was required in the district this year. The district administration of Cachar is now gearing up for a hassle-free counting of votes on 23 May. This year the EVMs have been kept at Jhapirbond NATRIP. The Training & Awareness Cell at Cachar is now all geared up to train the counting officials and staff.

There were a total of 1461 polling booths in Cachar district. For counting votes of these booths, the training session began on 15 May at Government Girls HS School, Silchar. Different categories of officials and staff are imparted training by the Assembly Level Master Trainers in 8 different rooms of the said school. Training for various categories of counting staff will continue till 22 May, 2019.

Those imparted training includes Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, Micro Observers, Additional Micro Observers, Micro Observers for Counting of Postal Ballot Papers received through ETPBS, Micro Observers of normal Postal Ballot Paper, Tabulators, Sealing Team of EVM & Statutory Forms, Transit Officers etc.

On Wednesday, Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar visited the training venue and inspected the rooms. She urged upon the trainees to take the training sessions very seriously so that there remains no chance of any error. Additional Deputy Commissioner & in-charge of Training & Awareness Cell Rajib Roy remained personally present in the training venue and supervised the same. He also imparted training to the Transit Officers and Sealing Team.

A total of 21 Assembly Level Master Trainers imparted training who included Arup Kar, Subhendu Saha, Krishna Kanta Sinha, Alok Bhattacharjee, Sanjib Roy, Arunabha Bhattacharjee, Sanjoy Kumar Deb Choudhury, Sudhangshu Shekar Bhattacharjee, Sagarmoy Das, Kaushik Deb, Dr. Soumitra Nath, Sudarshan Gupta, Dr. Himadri Shekar Das, Udayan Bhattacharjee, Dr. Apratim Nag, Jibendu Dutta, Kishore Kumar Deb, Debobrata Acharjee, Dr. Gongesh Bhattacharjee, Joydeep Paul, Kamalesh Bhattacharjee and Salil Chakraborty.

Sudipto Dutta Choudhury (Bapi), State Level Master Trainer was entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the training venue. Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, Head Assistant of the Training & Awareness Cell was directed to provide logistic support along with his other team members.
