2036 +ve cases registered in Assam on Thursday, tally rises to 98,807

August 27: On Thursday, 2036 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported from across Assam. With this, the total number of persons infected with novel coronavirus in Assam has now gone upto 98,807. Further, Hailakandi district recorded 110 positive cases during the day as per a tweet of State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. However, as per the press release issued by DIPRO Hailakandi, the number of positive cases during the day was 49. In the tweet, the minister wrote, “Alert ~ 2036 #COVID cases detected today out of 35395 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 5.75% Kamrup M- 481, Jorhat 146, Dibrugarh- 129, Hailakandi- 110.”

Further, 4 more persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 278.
