No restrictions on Diwali & fire crackers, but remember self-restraint, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Nov. 10: The celebration of Durga Puja this year was done amidst a host of restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic. However, with the improvement of COVID-19 scenario in the state, Assam government has decided to ease restrictions during the forthcoming Diwali. Announcing this, Cabinet Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet stated that Hindus can celebrate a restriction- free Diwali and burst firecrackers. But at the same time, the minister urged upon the people to exercise self-restraint to curb the further spread of coronavirus.

Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday tweeted, “Like any other religion, Hindus have the right to celebrate festivals. With improvement in #COVID19 situation in Assam, we plan no restrictions on celebration of #Diwali including use of #Firecrackers. However, kindly remember, self-restraint is key to combat #COVID19.”
