Machine Learning Algorithms using Python : Trainning Programme organised by Dept of Computer Science, AU

way2barak, Feb 1: Department of Computer Science, Assam University, Silchar organised a 7-day Training
Programme on Machine Learning Algorithms using Python for Beginners from 16 January to 22 January 2023, funded by Project Management Unit (PMU), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala, under “Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure” (STUTI) an initiative of DST, Govt of India.
In the Inaugural Session of the programme on 16th January, Chief Guest, Prof. Rajat Gupta, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar graced the occasion. The
programme was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof. Sajal Nag. At the very beginning, the coordinator of the training programme Dr. Purnendu Das welcomed all the guests and participants from various Universities, Institutes and Research Laboratories. Prof. Shahin Ara Begum, Head of the Department of Computer
Science welcomed all the participants and introduced the department and the academic, research and placement activities of the department.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Rajat Gupta highlighted the application of Machine Learning in the practical field of study. He mentioned the academic collaboration between the two institutes NIT Silchar and Assam University, two centrally funded universities which are situated only 11 kilometres apart. He promised all the support from their end to collaborate with research and academics through MOUs. Prof. Sajal Nag pointed out the
importance of technology in our daily life. Among other dignitaries Prof. C. R.
Bhattacharjee, Dean, of Albert Einstein School of Physical Sciences, Prof. Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Director of College Development Council and Head of the various departments, faculty members of the department and other departments graced the inaugural session. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bishwa Ranjan Roy, Joint Coordinator of the training programme.

An eminent academician, Prof. Samarjeet Borah, from Sikkim Manipal Institute of
Technology, participated as a resource person. Among the other resource persons, Prof. Shahin Ara Begum, Prof. Pankaj Kumar Deva Sarma and Dr. Prodipto Das were present. Dr. Debasish Roy and Dr. Rahul Kumar Chawda along with the technical team members –
Dr. Sanju Das, Nayan Mazumder, Amit Roy, Satyabrata Nath, Nilanjana Das and Sheikh Wakie Masood conducted the hands-on training sessions.

Prof. Karabi Dutta Choudhury, Dean of the School of Physical Sciences, graced the
Valedictory Session held on 22nd January 2023 in the department. Among the other dignitaries Prof. Shahin Ara Begum, Head, of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Bipul Syam Purkayastha, Former Head Department of Computer Science, Prof. Pankaj
Kr. Deva Sarma, Former Head Department of Computer Science and Coordinator Dr Purnendu Das were present along with the joint Coordinators, Dr. Bishwa Ranjan Roy and Dr. Rahul Kumar Chawda. The participants were given certificates in the valedictory
session. The programme concluded with a tour of APJ Abdul Kalam Library at NIT
Silchar campus and Khaspur heritage park, for participants on 22nd January 2023
